To be absent from the body is to be present with Christ…
When you look at our time on earth and measure it against our time in heaven, our time on earth measures as a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes, while our time in heaven is forever. Everything we do in this life determines where we will spend the next life. For the most part, people don’t like to talk about death, i.e., making funeral plans, determining who will serve as overseer of affairs. The Apostle Paul stated in one of his writings that to be absent from the body is to be present with God. We were not created to live here on earth forever, God created us for eternity and to spend it with Him. As we live our lives in total abundance, enjoying the many pleasures He has provided, we should too live in preparation of the grandeur life God has prepared for us. As I attend visitations and funerals of many loved ones that have passed on, it is a staunch reminder that our lives here on earth will be over in as much as, a “blink of an eye”. We will then experience a greater joy in being present with the Lord.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2
