In old testament times Abraham and Moses shared intimate friendships with God, as well did others. In the new testament when Jesus paid for our sins through His death on the cross, the veil was split which symbolized our separation from God. The opportunity was granted again to have direct access to God. Now we can go boldly before the throne of grace to converse with Him. The bible says in John 15:14,15a, “You are my friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servant, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends.”
Sometimes it’s hard to imagine God, who is omnipotent and perfect, would entertain an intimate friendship with a human being… Although it is comforting knowing that God created us to participate in a loving relationship with Him; He gives us a future filled with His peace and His joy.
