He Holds The Reins

A number of years ago, my sister delivered a powerful message entitled “He Holds The Reins”.  I didn’t know then that the title would stay with me throughout the years and even today, as a subliminal message playing out in my mind.  When faced with day to day situations, it’s so easy for us as women, to evaluate, make an assessment, gather information then make an informed decision… which sounds reasonable… but is it a choice that God would be pleased with… who will benefit from this choice?  Will it have long term and negative consequences… will it hinder the workings of God? When you’re working in difficult places and/or with difficult people, it’s easy to say, “I don’t have to take this”.  Did you ever think twice… maybe God is using you to make work conditions better not just for you, but others as well…  perhaps your suffering will produce a much needed outcome… Just maybe God is using you to be a conduit of light in a dark atmosphere… maybe someone has been watching you, your character play out… how you speak seasoned words and the way you hold your peace…  maybe someone is about to ask you where your joy comes from…

God strategically plants us for greater purposes beyond our understanding.  If we would willingly release the reins to Him, giving Him the power to direct and guide us, we would obtain meaningful results.  Sometimes it’s necessary for Him to check us, re-direct us, and gently remind us of the ultimate plan to save, heal and deliver.  Surrender to Him and allow Him to “Hold The Reins”.

We are encouraged by a leader who stirs us to move ahead, someone who believes we can do the task He has given and who will be with us all the way.  God is that kind of leader.  He knows the future, and his plans for us are good and full of hope. As long as God, who knows the future, provides our agenda and goes with us as we fulfill His mission, we can have boundless hope.  This does not mean that we will be spared pain, suffering, or hardship, but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion.  (Taken from Life Application Study Bible, footnotes Jeremiah 29:11)
