Sometimes when God allow us to acquire things, we grow tired of them, waiting and ready for whats next. Being content requires soul searching, exploring what’s really at the core of our desires, closely looking at our motives… so as I continue to grow and learn, and desires arise… I ask myself these questions:
- Why do I really want this?
- What impact will it have on my character?
- How can this be used for God’s glory?
- If I don’t get this, will it be okay?
By using this brief check and balance, it aids greatly in the practice of contentment. The Apostle Paul said this: Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:11-13)
