Forgiving Is Healing

According to Karen Swartz, M.D., director of the Mood Disorders Consultation Clinic at Johns Hopkins Medicine, forgiveness is a balm for the mind and body.  “Chronic stress or anger puts us in fight-or-flight mode, which revs heart rate and blood pressure,” she says.  “Forgiveness has a calming effect that strengthens our immune system and dramatically decreases the risk of disease.”
