It’s another Monday morning, rise and shine time to get up and get going, time to start the first day of the work week… another day of battle… battling with the boss lady, battling with the boss man, battling with your co-worker and for what??? Is it because your idea is better or you came up with it first? Or is it that your opinion didn’t count? Were you undervalued, didn’t get the position promised… Whatever it is, it’s an ongoing battle that gets the best of you…. Is it really your battle? No, Not Yours… But God!
For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You. Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. II Chronicles 20:12b, 15b
In Roman culture, the adopted person gained all the rights of a legitimate child in his new family. He became a full heir to his new father’s estate. Likewise, when a person becomes a Christian, he or she gains all the privileges and responsibilities of a child in God’s family. One of these remarkable privileges is being led by the Holy Spirit. His inward presence reminds us of who we are. We are no longer slaves to sin; instead, we are the Master’s children. Oh, what a privilege! Because we are God’s children, we are co-heirs; we share in great treasures! He has already given us His best gifts: His Son, Forgiveness, and Eternal Life. We also have Peace, Joy and His Love; we are invited to ask for anything else we need and desire.
Go and Get Your Inheritance!
Draw close to God and God will draw close to you. James 4:8
Do you want a distant relationship or a close relationship with God? It’s your choice… like any relationship it takes work to develop. It involves a sincere desire, and giving of your time and energy. Learn to share your feelings with Him then trust His plan for you.
Tell God about what deeply concerns you, what keeps you up at night… tell Him about everything you have no control over…. be honest and open with Him. He’s not looking for perfection but for sheer candidness. Then as you draw closer and closer to Him, learn to rest in His peace and enjoy the splendor of His creation!
A loyal friend is like a safe shelter; find one and you have found a treasure.
We have this moment to hold in our hand, and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand. Yesterday’s gone and tomorrow may never come, but we have this moment today. ~Gloria Gaither
